Flight Operations

You’re responsible, a team player and thrive in constantly changing situations. Flight Operations personnel manage the flying operation. They support pilots in real time, making sure aircrafts operate safely, efficiently and on time. It’s the hub of an airline and runs 24/7 to make sure airline schedules operate smoothly by trouble shooting issues as they arise. Examples of roles include working in an Integrated Operations Centre monitoring and managing flights, or working in an airline’s dispatch centre, preparing documentation and approvals allowing an aircraft to depart from one airport and land at another. Flight Operations is the first point of contact for pilots and cabin crew when they are operating a flight. Safety & Quality

You’re technically minded, logical and responsible. Safety is the number one priority of an airline and extends to all areas of the business. Each airline has its own safety management team for on the ground and in the air. Safety teams monitor or advise on issues from Cargo carriage safety to Airside Risk Management.

Airlines also have Quality teams who work with each department of the airline to make sure quality is consistent across every aspect of the operation. You can transfer from a functional department to work in Safety or Quality but an academic qualification is usually preferred such as Human Factors or Aviation Safety.
